Cannot manual scan user mailbox

I am using symantec mail security 4.0 for MS exchange to protect the user mailbox from virus.
When I tried to do a manual scan on 1 of the user mailbox, I could not find that particular mailbox. And some of my staff has already left the company, but their email address still appear on the SMS 4.0. Anyone can help me on this problem?Thanks.
