Cannot open email attachements sent with Netscape

By javpub ·
Several recipients of emails sent with Netscape Mail client are not able to open the attachments. The attachments are seen as text in the message body.

However, the same recipients don't have any problem for opening the same attachments sent with Opera mail client.

What is the difference in attachments sent by Opera and Netscape?

This has been tested by sending mail from different computers.

Wrong forum

This is a tech. problem, in search of a solution.

It properly belongs in "Technical Q&A," not in "Discussions." Please re-post there.

Not only will you be more likely to attract the attention of those seeking to provide answers, but you will also make it easier for those seeking discussions to find such.

Thank you.

It's a TR problem, one that has been addressed ...

by deepsand In reply to repost

in several discussions.

TR makes no provision for quiding responses to article to the proper forum, with the result that they all end up in "Discussions," although many properly belong in the "Technical Q&A" forum.

TR is aware of this problem, but has shown little interest in fixing it in the near term.

So, it falls to the members to try to re-direct those posts which, through no fault of the postor, end up in the wrong place.

I've had similar problems

by DC_GUY In reply to Cannot open email attache ...

MacMail sometimes does that, helpfully opening all text files in the mail window to save me some work, even if they're Quicken files that look like text. I found the way around it is to ask the sender to rename the attachment with an extension of .xls . MacMail never tries to open an Excel spreadsheet it the mail window. Perhaps you'll have the same luck.
