Cannot send and receive to

By sandra ·
We are using Windows 2003 Server SB. All users use Outlook 2003 on Windows 2000 or Windows XP computers. A POP3 email account is setup within Outlook for users. We can not send or receive email from accounts. I have called our ISP and they can send and receive from their point and told me it is internal. I have checked the Firewall, the Antivirus setup and in fact disabled them and still can not send or receive email to this domain. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

AOL does not use POP3. They use IMAP and authenticated SMTP. See the following link for assistance:

humm on the face I'd say it's your ISP. Exhcange Server configured for POP3 takes email from users and uploads it to your ISP mail server which in turns forwards it to the destination. On the receiving end your POP3 Exchange server downloads email held at your ISP and distributes it to users mail box.

Since your using Small Business Server, how you configured it using the connect to the internet wizard in the "Things do Do list" determines how email is processed.

how is your Exchange Server 2003 on the Small Business Server configured? [besides the generic use POP3] there is a wizard that is run [connect to the internet from the things to do list]. How was that setup? e.g. did you use a FQDN for your SBS domain?

note: do you only use POP3 or did you also create other virtual servers in Exchange [like SMTP X.5000] etc.
