    Cannot use laptop monitor only external.

    Recently ive changed the base of my Compaq notebook 100.Since then I can only use an external monitor although there is light in the laptop monitor there are no displays.

      Well, if that’s what you’ve done then you’ll have required to disconnect the laptop lid from the old base then reconnect it to the new base – I’d check the twisted wire coupling connection for the screen.

      Was this just a chassis change, or did you change the entire base including motherboard?

      There are at least 2 Leads that connect the monitor to the M’Board

      In the Base one isn’t connected properly if at all. It’s also possible that one of the flexible leads isn’t secured correctly or that it is broken.

      The First lead is a Plastic film with tracks on it that needs to be correctly fitted to it’s socket and if there are 2 holes in the Plastic it needs to be secured to the mounting point. The second lead is a Twisted Pair Cable with a push in plug at the M’Board end. That need to be plugged into the M’Board.

      If both are plugged in you’ll need to check the wiring with a Multimeter set to measure resistance. You shouldn’t get any when you test each individual wire/track.
