Canon MP610 Wierdness

I recently installed a Canon PIXMA MP 610 device replacing a Canon I 960 printer. Now half the time I print a document the printer ejects the first page blank, also the first page may have only a few lines of the document or photo, the second page will have 2/3 of the document or photo and the third page usually has the complete document. I am running XP Home and have replaced the USB cable. I did uninstall the old printer before installing the new one. Would re-installing the drivers help? Or is there something else I can do? Do print spoolers ever get hosed up?

I know it is for vista but you might have similar settings on your computer. Make sure the paper settings are correct, and make sure it is selected to only print onto one page and not spread over three pages. click here for your drivers:
