Can't access netwrk drves intermittently

By stchow3 ·
Currently I am using Window NT 4.0 workstations on compaq armada m700 notebook. While using half-way, it would suddenly disconnected from the network drives on my server. But after a while, it suddenly connect back to my network drives again. My workstations is using DHCP. This only happens to me but has never happens to my collesgue who sharing the same network. I have checked with "ipconfig /all" command and the setting looks ok. I have tested and changed the network path. I even format and re-installed the software for the notebook. When the notebook is disconnect from the network drives, I am able to ping to the Gateway and the PC within the same segment. But it failed when I ping my server at another segment, it prompt me "Request Timeout". My server is using Windows NT 4.0. Kindly please any solutions or recommendations. Thank you.

Can't access netwrk drves intermittently

I'd say it's probably a physical problem. As I recall the Armadas have on-board NICs? Try plugging in a PCMCIA card, and see if that works.

Also check network cables and patch-points.

Hope this helps,

Can't access netwrk drves intermittently

I have sent the armada m700 notebook to Compaq service centre to check. According to the Compaq Sevice Engineer mentioned that the internal network card has problem and it has replaced it. After returned from the Compaq service centre I still encounter the same problem. When the armada m700m notebook was sent to Compaq for repair, the user was temporary loan a PC to use. The PC also encounter intermittent disconnect problem. The IT was informed about this problem and they were clueless of how to resolved this. Can someone please provide some suggestions. Thank you.
