Cant open anything to do with Microsoft updates??

By nzer48 ·
For some very annoying reason I cant access Microsoft updates, at all! From programmes on my P.c to google, my browser simply refuses to have anything to do with it. I have run malware programmes, antivirus programmes, searched the web, reinstalled IE8, contacted Microsoft (yeah good idea) changed from IE8 to Safari. Nothing. I did get an error code 0x8024402c once.
I may have changed a setting in my registry, just a wee bell rings but for the life of me cant remember where or if it's just me grasping at straws.
any help would be greatly appreciated

Is it activated?

Double-check by going to Start | All programs | Accessories |System Tools |Activate Windows.

Use System Restore.

Restore back to a date before you started having problems.

Next thing to try.

by Ron K. In reply to System restore

Go to Internet Explorer and set everything back to the default level in the Security, Privacy and Advanced tabs, under Tools on the menu bar.

If you have any real-time security monitoring toiols, antispyware, antimalware and firewaqll try tuning them off while visiting MS Updates only. Re-enable them if you leave ths site.
