Can't print from laptop to desktop

By mikerapolas ·
Hello folks, I am Mike and here is my problem.

I have a desktop with 3 printers connected(each with a specific use). I also have a laptop with 1 printer connected.
I would like to access my desktop printers from my laptop. I was able to do this a while ago until my system crashed.

I have a routed connected. .So if someone can give detailed instructions on how I could accomplish this I would be forever grateful.

But I really do need help!

Thank you so much in advance.

Sincerely, Mike

Printing to a shared printer

by robo_dev In reply to Can't print from laptop t ...

What OS are the desktop/laptop running?

Did the laptop crash or the desktop?

The short version:

You will need to adjust the settings for the printer you want to share, to make it 'shared'.

Once it is set to shared, then the laptop will be able to see it when you click on the 'my network' icon.

You can then add the shared printer as an available printer on the laptop and print to it.

The article below gives a fairly good idea of what is involved:

Thank you for the reply. I knew I had Ledt something out.
I am running Vista Home Premium on the laptop and desktop.
Neither of these crashed.

I will try the fix and post a reply to let you know the results.

Thanks, Mike
