Can't save .xls and from Outlook to desk

Martin,

It is NEVER a good idea to save files to the Desktop.
The Desktop is a special folder whose purpose is to hold the shortcuts for frequently used programs.

I would advise the client that storing files on the Desktop WILL slow the computer down.

There are 2 ways to have quick access to commonly used files:
Start, Documents
Or, browse to the document, right click on it, and add a shortcut to it on the desktop.

It is possible that a policy has been set to prevent users from changing the desktop. That would explain why you are able to save files to the desktop when logged in as administrator.

This is for sure a permissions issue (since the admin can save).
