Can’t scan b/c free space is negative #

Bought new scanner – Viviscan Compact III. Found WIN 2000 driver installed. When try to scan using PhotoSuite or other software I get error that states “Disk Space is Not enough. Please Try again with a lower resolution or smaller scan size”. I’ve tried the smallest resolutiona dnd smallest scan size allowed.. same message. I can preview scan, but can’t actually scan. I noticed that the Free Space indicator shows a negative number… strange. I have about 20GB free on Hard Drive… 256MBRAM, page file of 400 – 600… I DON’T GET THIS ONE AND NEED HELP. ; )
