I have this Dell Optiplex GX 240 running Windows 2000 Pro that can’t see added ide drives in windows explorer. I tried adding a Seagate backup and an Iomega Zip 100 and when I go to view the drives, in Explorer or My Computer, the drives don’t showup. When I use the add hardware wizzard, it tells me that the drives are working fine and there are no conflicts. Also when I add a drive to the IDE the CD drive is on, it suddenly dissappears in Windows Explorer. When I remove the added drive, the CD drive comes back. Both drives are jumpered correctly. The added drives are slaves. When the added drives are jumpered as master, Windows does not see them. I cannot find a setting in the BIOS that is not allowing plug and play devices. Both drives work on other machines. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pat
