A virus damaged many files on cust’s PC. I installing a new HDD, reloaded 98SE, NAV 2002, and updating the NAV def. files. I was hoping to install the orig HDD as slave or 2nd Mstr, scan for viruses, then pull data back to new drive. I couldn’t access the drive’s data either way (file system unknown), as it would only boot when set as Pri. Master. How do I get rid of the “Go Back” software that’s installed without loosing data? It seems like the “Go Back” software is acting like an overlay or??Customer is certain he will lose lots of data if he just uses the “Go Back”, and I agree. I finally fixed the situation by booting from his orig HDD, pulling his data over to a different slave drive, reinstalled the new HDD (with updated Antivirus software), scanned the slave (data) drive for viruses, and finally pulled the data over to the new drive. I would be lots easier to be able to disable or bypass the “Go Back” software if I ever see this again. I have a few ideas, but I don’t want to take chances with someone else’s valuable data. Can anyone tell me how – from experience?
