I have a small 6 PC workgroup to which I added a new user running XP on a Toshiiba laptop. The PC adds to the workgroup with no issues but I cannot browse the network by name from the added PC.
If I try to attach a network drive from Explorer no computers are found in the workgroup but if I use the IP address and share name I can attach to and use the files on the remote computers. I have the same issue with printers. They can’t be used unless added using the IP address.
In a DOS box I can ping the other PCs by IP but not by name also.
The other PCs are running 98 or XP and they can see the new member of the workgroup but when I try to open I get the no permission dialog.
