Capture Game Console Video to PC

By apple_eggby ·
I need to capture video from a game console (XBox 360, Gamecube, and PS3) and could use some advice on the best product for the job. I don't have an internal capture card, and would like to capture and preview directly into Adobe Premiere. I would prefer an external device. I bought an ADS Tech Pyro A/V Link, but it connects by firewire & for some reason XP won't recognize the device on any of the 1394 ports on the machine I want to use. It works fine on another machine also running XP SP2. Anyway, I need to get this content captured ASAP, so I'm tired of messing with the firewire problem. I need this video to be high quality, but I'd like to spend less than $250. Any help will be appreciated!

First thing is you need to install the Devices Firewire Drivers

XP doesn't support this Natively.

While Firewire is much faster than USB it's still an external Capture Device and has a lower quality end result than any Internal Capture Card will have. But if the saved product is good enough for your needs all that should be required is to install the Firewire Drivers for the device. Open Device Manager and make sure that the Firewire Ports are actually installed and working then add the software that came with the Capture Device to Capture the Video Signal.

Both firewire ports show that they are installed and functioning in device manager. I've already got software installed, I'm trying to capture directly into Premiere.

If Windows doesn't pop up a Found New Hardware Message and install the Hardware then either the Ports or Driver are not working correctly.
