Here’s a question I’m wrestling with that I wouldn’t mind some advice on. I’ve carved out a successful career as a Project Manager, which is purely down to experience and I don’t hold any certificates. I’m currently contemplating gaining accreditation and have two options. I could eventually get my PM certification, or go for certification in IT Security as I have been involved in a few projects where this has been an integral part and it has interested me immensely and I have managed to build up quite a bit of knowledge by working closely with the consultants.
I have the experience to get PM roles (although I will always lose out to those with certificates), but I can’t see a way into Security Management without obtaining certification first.
Any opinions would be a great help.
p.s. I’ll be funding the study and exams myself, so don’t say get both.
