Carrer Roadmap

By aads_aadesh ·
I started my career as a Technical Person and today after 8 years of experience have landed up yeilding diversified experince as Chief Operating Officer, Cheif Technology Officer, Technical Manager, Consultant and Trainer.
I have experince in Process Improvement, Strategic Planing and Technology (IT & Info. Sec).
Also in the process I have done MCSE,CCNA, BS7799, CISSP.

After working in the current company for 3 years, I am lokiing for a change for a better prospect. But I have tend to develop more Business Management skills. And i dont want to be in that profile. I prefer to be in a Secuirty Auditor or Technial Profile relate to Information Security. But because of my currnet job, as a COO - Business Operation (Middle East), I am stamped as Business Management person.

What should i do? What should i do which will make me more specilised in the areas I want to be?

You do not necessarily have to list everything about your life on a resume. If you want to continue a technical career, emphasize the technical aspects of your positions and leave out the business side.

If you seek a management level, you maywant to leave some critical business skills like project management and personnel management.

Always modify your resume toward the company you are applying for. I had somebody send me a resume once with advanced skills in industrial engineering -- although I am an IT consultant. The person obviously knew nothing about me or my company and made a fool of himself.

Know the company and the position you want to apply for. Make your resume look like you are tailor-made for that postition.
