Cd burner Won't read discs

By eraser3498 ·
Recently I installed a SATA harddrive in my computer. It was reconized and seemed to install correctly. So I decided to put my DVD burner on ide channel 1 and My CD burner/DVD Rom driver on ide 2 both master. Everything seemed to work fine until I installed windows XP SP1. Then the CD burner stopped reading discs. It behaves as if it is going to work but the disc either reads as empty or it says there is no disc in the drive. I have a feeling that it is somehow connected to the usb 2.0 drivers in the SP1 disc but I don't know how to fix this problem. My motherboard is a P4P800, CPU 2.6GHZ, Ram 512, Geforce 5200FX, sound blaster 5.1, Motoralo 56K modem. Maxtor SATA 80 Gig hardrive. LG 4081 DVD Burner, LG 4052 CDRW/DVD rom combo drive and windows XP pro. Any ideas on how get the drive to read discs again greatly appreciated.
