    CD Burning in Vista

    Locked

    by andyw360 ·

I have a customer who cannot drop files to the CD burning window, when the CD is inserted, it formats and you can drag files from an explorer window to the CD burning window but when you drop the files they don’t appear in the CD burning window.

I have tried various things including removing other burning software and deleting the upper and lower filters.

Anyone have any ideas why this happens ?

Are you sure on the your question about the “cd”. If it does a “format” when you place in a cd then it will not burn because it has already been burnt by the “format” operation. If you mean the dvd ? RW then you need nero or Cyberlink to do a real good burn but remember that you will need the “Vista” version of these two NOT XP. I hope this helps you.

But I can tell you that I couldn’t be bothered trying to make it work in Vista and I already had Nero which does the job without any fuss.

        When I say format, I mean . . .

        by andyw360 ·

In reply to Re: CD Burning in Vista

When I say format, I mean when you insert the CD Vista will ask you to format and name it, once that is done you can not drop files to the CD burning window in explorer.

A DVD-ram?. This disk (when loaded in to the drive) will bring up the box in question that you are on about.

hightlight the fils and right clik from your mouse , then send to cd, make sure you have a blank cd in D/E drive, also make sure you have cd R/w.
      good luck.

        Let me explain

        by andyw360 ·

In reply to highlight the fils

The disc in the drive is a normal CDR, you cannot drag and drop the files, when you drop them they do not appear in the CD window full stop, they just will not appear, as you drag from say your documents folder they appear ghosted out like normal during the drag and then when you let them go on the CD window they disappear, copy and paste does not work either !

        Any ideas, anyone ?

Now you say it’s a CDR

          by computercookie ·

In reply to Let me explain

Are you sure you can do this, I thought this was only possible with CD-RW.

        • #2567944

          Course you can !

          by andyw360 ·

In reply to Now you say it’s a CDR

A CDR is Compact Disc Recordable.
A CDRW is Compact Disc Rewritable.

No matter what disc, drag and drop burning, cut and paste or the burning wizard will not work.

          Anyone else ?
