I’m in charge of developing a method to associate a specific CD with a specific user, so that only that person can use that CD. The only problem is coming up with a unique identifier for the disk.
I am considering using the CD serial number that is assigned by the system when the CD is created, but I’ve heard that this isn’t guaranteed to be unique. How likely is it that a serial number would be duplicated?
If more than 1% will be duplicates, is there another way that Ican get a number that will be unique to each copy of a disk and remain the same for each disk?
