Change default directory-registry hack?

By CMB from Omaha ·
Looking for a way to change default "save" directory for Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Deluxe, version 11. It would be very helpful if I could save student records to a network folder rather than the current default, which is a folder on individual PC hard drives. (I'm working in a community college learning center/computer lab). I can "navigate" to the network directory, of course, but that's too labor-intensive, even if I were here all day every day. Any suggestions? I'm guessing this will require a registry hack, or is there another way?

After reviewing the documentation, downloadable from http://support.riverdeep.net/download_desc.asp?dlid=403&id=1294819358
it looks like this is an install option, see esp. Section 3.
I would try a reinstall of the Admin function, to see if that works, before doing a reinstall at each workstation.

You do not say-did you already try contacting Brodubund/Riverdeep support (http://support.riverdeep.net/)? They might have an option selection that is not in the documentation that would allow you to reset the default save directory without doing the reinstall.

Thanks--we are actually using the individual workstation version that anyone could buy at Wal-Mart (I wasn't in on THAT purchasing decision, believe me!). But I had not located the "riverdeep" web site and their support address previously, so that in itself will be very helpful! In addition, the info you provided will help me build a business case for upgrading to the School version. Thanks again!
