By kdoje ·
I replaced a mal-functioned dell machine with a clone.I transferred the DVD-CDRW combo to the clone.I installed the software for the CDRW but is unable to do the same for the DVD(it is not a dell machine message comes up). How do I get around this problem so that I can have access to the DVD. Thanks for the help.

New software

If you have the latest IDE driver installed in the clone, you should be able to access the DVD drive.

The software, is likely a DVD player.
Many OEM DVD players require that specific hardware be present before they will install.

What you needto do, is BUY a copy of a DVD player software package.
I have seen both Power DVD and Win DVD for under $10 on various web-tailers.
For XP, just make sure that you get the latest version, as the older versions do not work with XP.
