Change Icon Cache Size in Windows XP Pro

by scams . Updated 22 years, 4 months ago

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 computer with windows XP Pro installed and 512mb of RAM memory. In the past when using windows 98, you could change the Icon Cache size in the registry. Can this be done in windows XP Pro,
and if so, I would very much appreciate a list of procedures in accomplishing this task. Thanks for any help, Sam.

P.S. the reason for my interest, is that when I open or close a large folder, especially the My Computer folder, the icons on the desktop will flicker and redraw most of the time. I did upgrade the NVIDIA driver to ver 53.03 and it did help some, but not significantly
