    Change master web server (InterDev)

    Is there any way to change the master web server on an existing Visual InterDev 6.0 web project? We’re adding a new server and I want to move some of my projects over there. I haven’t been using InterDev long and I don’t know how to do it (or if it’s even possible!)

      You will need to copy the project to the new web server. The server will need to have Frontpage extensions or you’ll need to use WebPost and the Posting Acceptor. I’m aasuming you have admin privileges.
      From the Project menu, choose Web Project andthen Copy Web Application.
      In the Copy Project dialog box, choose the copy of the application you want to copy. Typically, you would choose the master version.
      In the Server name box, enter the name of the destination Web server.
      In the Web project box, enter the name you want in the URL.
      Make sure the you clear the Copy changed files only checkbox.

        That doesn’t help, the master web server doesn’t exist anymore, it’s been replaced by another machine with a different name. Sure, I can copy it, but according to the project the “master web server” is still the old server, so I can only work in Local mode (When I switch to Master mode it says there is no web server named “WebServer”)

      If the project has been copied over to the new server, rename the directory/project on your local PC (just to be safe), and then from the local PC create a new Project using the same name as the previous one, select the new server, and then when prompted, select Connect to an existing project on your_server_name.
