Changes to Outlook subject line does not always get saved…

I have a user who likes to change the text in the subject line. Normally whatever changes he makes will stay when he closes the email, but there have been times now where it does not save it all.

What I have tried:
Performed a Detect and Repair – no dice
Searched over web, including MS Office – no dice

Any ideas?

This is Outlook 2002.
