Changing file name in Properties in Excel

By techstar2011 ·
When I open a file in Excel or Word, and click properties, under "location" my personal name seems to be after c:\documents and setting\Norman\MyDocuments
I need to take out the name Norman or change the existing files and all files that are made to another name.

How do I do this in Excel?
When I am sending documents to people and if they click properties, they can see the name.

In word when I click, tools, options and click file locations, it says my name in there too under locations which is highlighted. If I click the modify button it just brings up the box for accessing all my documents.

I have no idea what you are talking about- there should be a simpler way to do this?

The "Location" setting in Excel tells you were you currently have the file saved on your hard drive. When you send the file to someone else, the "Location" setting will change to wherever they save the file.

For example, I just created a test Excel spreadsheet and saved it in C:\Temp. I reopened it and checked the "Location" setting, and it was C:\Temp. Next, I sent the test file to another user on our network. He saved it to C:\Download. When he opened the spreadsheet the "Location" setting said C:\Download.

I hope this helps.

try this...

... click on TOOLS
... scroll down to OPTIONS
... then navigate to GENERAL tabs
... go down to user name and change it
