Changing language settings when you don’t understand the set language.

I had an embittered ex-roommate change the language setting on my Microsoft Office Professional 2003 application from English to German, before she returned to Germany. I neither speak nor read German. I have quite a few documents there that I absolutely need access to for school purposes. Can someone please help me to return the settings to English? One of the documents is a school paper I have been working on for 1 1/2 months and is due in two weeks.
