Changing location of network printer

By mattwilson247 ·
Currently 40 of the users on our network is using the same path to reach our 2 network laser printers. I am having to change the name of the printer server. Is there a way I can modify all of the users print settings to reflect this print server name change? Obviously, I want to do this without having to go to every machine and make the change manuallly. Is there a script to do this? Let me know. Thanks.

What environment

If you are using a Netware environment, then changing the print server name will make no difference because all users print to the print queue, not the server.

If it's a NT server enviornment then maybe a registry key roll out will do the job quickly

It's a Windows 2000 environment. Majority of the computers are running Windows 2000 with a few running Win9x. Thanks.

What is the setting in your computer to connect to printer ? Are you using TCP/IP or DLC ? If you are using TCP/IP , you could print but the printer name will not change in the need to change it individually on the workstation.
You could also write an script and run it on logon script.
