Changing the icon of files

Have you tried right clicking on the icon you wish to change and then clicking the Change Icon button at the bottom right???

There are also pieces of software which will help you create icons. See below:

IconCreator 4.0
Capture, create, and edit any size icons.
OS: Windows 95/98/NT/2000 Shareware, $20

IconEdit2 2.2
Download an icon-editing utility.
OS: Windows 95/98/NT/2000 Shareware

Icon Viewer 3.5
View icons contained in EXE, DLL, or ICO files.
OS: Windows 95/98/NT Freeware
E-Icons 3.61
Customize your Windows shell icons.
OS: Windows 95/98/NT/2000 Shareware, $19
