Changing the Screen Saver Password

By mattw ·
I have a user who has forgotten her screen saver password. We had to hard reboot her Windows 98 machine, then went to Display/Screen Saver...we are unable to change the password because it requires the old password, which she doesn't seem to know.Is there a workaround to fix this?

Thanks,
Matt

Got to START and FIND *.pwl

Delete the file correspoding to your user.

The password for the screen saver is saved in this file.

During Start-Up there may be a way to bypass normal settings ... if you can get to MS DOS, you can erase all the Password files from Windows, assuming you can figure out where they are located & what they are called.
