Changing Video Resolution in Redhat 7.1

By megashub ·
I'm running Redhat Linux 7.1, and would like to change my video resolution to 80x50. I'm having difficulty getting it to work. Please provide any and all solutions you may have.

Thanks.
Bob

Run Xconfigurator as root (remember the command is case-sensitive). It should allow you to change to any video resolution supported safely by XFree86.

I suppose I should have specified that I don't want to change my resolution in X, rather I want to change my resolution in bash / text mode.

Thanks,
Bob

If you have RH CD's then mount the CD that has your RPMS and install SVGA.

rpm -i /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS/SVGA*

should do the trick.

Then you need to need to check out /etc/TextConfig

search for the line that starts with

default

andchange your text mode, there are tons of different modes to choose from. It worked with no problems with my system, but read all the info in /etc/TextConfig carefully.

Good Luck,
Paul

Hmm. Interesting. Sounds good, except that I'm not able to locate any file or directory on my system called "TextConfig".
