Changing your Domain in Exhange 5.5

By D Squared ·
I recently lost my .com domain and registered a .ca instead. So I set about to change my exchange to use this .ca domain name. To give you backgound we had both the .com and the .on.ca domain and we were recieving mail to both no problems till we lost the .com. So now we can still recieve if you send to the .on.ca address but not to the new .ca
If I connect to the exchange on port 25 I get the following error when I do the rcpt to line:
553 Requsted action not taken: mailbox name not allowed

How can I fix this everything looks right I just don't see the problem.

I've never seen Exchange give that response, and you won't see it in the Microsoft KB except for related to outlook express and other clients. Are you 100% sure it is Exchange responding on port 25? Verify it says Exchange Server and gives the version that you are running 5.5.xxxx.xx

All you should have to do is add the address on the routing tab as described here:

It doesn't say that it's an exchange when I connect but it accepts mail from the .on.ca address just not the .ca?

If it doesn't say Exchange and you haven configured your banner, my point is that you might have to configure the .ca domain on your firewall (for example if it's the one that's answering) or your internet relay of some other type.
