cleanup mailboxes for deleted users?

By asmith ·
Is there an automated way to delete mailboxes that don't have corresponding NT accounts? I.E. the NT account has been deleted, but mailbox was not removed, so now there are many mailboxes in my directory that belong to people who no longer work at my company. Can I run a process that will "flush out" all mailboxes that don't really belong to anyone?

cleanup mailboxes for deleted users?

First, which version do you have? Exchange 5.5 or 2000. If 2000, you have an utility on the CD to do this. Go under X:\SUPPORT\UTILS\I386 where X: is your CD drive. You will see a file named MBCONN.EXE. Start it and follow screen. It will find any orphane mailbox and marked them to delete or anything else. Just enter in your exchange system manager under your administrative groups and private mailbox folder. You will see all these mailboxes ready to be deleted.

Unfortunately, I don't know if this tool was implemented with exchange 5.5.

Hope it help.
