ColdFusion vs ASP Performance Test

By aradulescu ·
Is there a place where I can find a performance comparation between ASP and Coldfusion? I would like to find out how they stand in regards of dynamic pages generated per second. Which of them generates the same page faster and what is the difference?

Thank you

Adrian

ASP and ColdFusion are different. There are things you can do in ASP that you can't do the same way in ColdFusion (the reason they have to update the ColdFusion code)
ColdFusion really works like FrontPage. It's an interface for your code.
I don't think you can compare the two.

First off, ColdFusion and ASP are VERY similar. Don't confuse ColdFusion with Net Objects' Fusion (something that *is* very much like Frontpage).

Allaire claims they are faster than Microsoft. Microsoft claims they are faster than all others. I think you have to take any benchmark info out there with a grain of salt. As mentioned in the other responses, much depends on what you want to do and how you want to do it. If you are using MS IIS, ASP probabaly has an edge. If you are using Solaris or linux, ColdFusion is going to be speedier.

I feel the only meaningful test results will be those you generate on your own, using your own database and programming techniques. Allaire gives you ample time on the eval version of ColdFusion for this purpose. There are many test software products out there. One that seems especially robust to me is found here:

If that doesn't work for you, try the various tools listed here:

Good luck!

Thanks. I was hopping that I can use some benchmarks already done. It looks like I will have to do my owns.
Thanks again
