Combining data into summary report

by cnwoods . Updated 21 years, 8 months ago

I have a regular report I run which takes counts and percentages of several different items, against several different fields (eg day by percentage, locations & percentage) and also includes a few charts (date, count by week etc). Most of this data is parsed from raw text files, which I then use excel to pivot on, and type in the percentage formulas, however some comes down from a corporate reporting program which does the percentages for me – except it’s very slow and clunky and kills my system for any other use while I’m running them.
I’m an intermediate to advanced level Office user, and can do VBA in Excel but not Access. I’m thinking because of the relational nature of the data, that would be my best bet for automating this report, but have no idea how to go about creating a report that includes both calculations, summary data and charts.

Any site referrals, books or just plain tips on the names of the functions I’m in need of looking up would be appreciated.
