Command.com

By qpeabody ·
I have a Win98 user who's experiencing a Command.com missing or corrption error. What's the quickest cure for this? Is it possible to use the Command.com file/folder from a Win98 bootdisk? If so, were do I copy it too? Should I copy/install it from DOS or Windows?

You need a windows 98 boot disk with sys.com on it.

Boot with the windows 98 boot disk and then run the sys command. For example from the a: prompt.

a:>sys c:

This will transfer the command.com and startup files (io.sys + msdos.sys) to thetarget drive (c:) and overwrite the possibly corrupt copies.

Copying the command.com may work, but this way will definetly solve the problem.
