being counted as answers in the Q&A?

user changes point value it counts as an answer to the question?

me thinks there something broken about even a comment on an answer, or reading a question having an impact.

      I haven’t noticed that myself

I think when someone posts a COMMENT it is added to the same pane as the original answer. One acceptable/rejected effects both the answer and any additional comments from what I can see.

Can you point us to an example?

That is, one where the reported no. of answers equals the total of both answers & comments.

Don’t think that’s what happened at all.

It says ANSWERED because someone (YOU) has answered it, the question is still open to answers and no points have been awarded.

They are added an ANSWER but no points are awarded.
It just tallies POSTS like the discussion forum does.

When the question is closed, you choose who to accept answers from, this will award point to a single or all posters but not based on th enumber of answers/posts made by him/her, unless you add multiple replies and all are accepted.

I’m talking about the listing of questions under the my questions link.

there it posts how many answers.
and it counts comments as answers.

I think this guy should answer YOUR question(s)

Then YOU can choose to answer his question and his comments.

And then HE could / should award you the 75 points.

          Greetings Gunnar Klevedal

          In reply to Oz,

I really don’t think it effects the points when they are handed out though. YOu can only accept a persons response, Their comments are inclusive in that response, even if tallied as a total number of replys.

If I post an answer then add two comments, it will show as 4 posts (incuding the original and perhaps even add a few of the original posters comments too.

But when the question is closed and points are awarded, you can only accept my answer and all comments are WITHIN that answer are ocunted as a single accepted solution.

If I posted two separate replies, you just reject the ones before the the one that worked, otherwise I wouldn’t have added more posts unless the first was rejected.

          it’s why count the comments?

or, why count them as answers?

wouldn’t having them marked as comments make more sense?

          it’s just an oddity.

Never really considered it an issue.

I thouoght you meant people were getting more points for adding comments and having the answer accepted, which isn’t so of course.

          Yup, you’re right.

I checked an open qustion that I responded to.

It’s counted ALL comments, even those of the postor of the questions, as “Answers.”

Take a look at your “Closed” questions to see if the problem gets rectified upon closure.

I have but one such, and it does not now evidence this problem.
