Computer Lockup

A computer at my office locks up about 1 minute after booting up. It doesn’t lockup in just one place, it locks up wherever it feels right. I was trying to install a modem, but can’t because everytime I try to install the drivers from disk, it locksup. Its been doing this for some time now but I’ve been to busy to mess with it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
