    Computer reboots when I print

    Locked

    by clw_css01 ·

    I have a Sharp AL6451 which is approx 3 years old and has been on another computer without any problems. Recently installed this printer on a new computer (XP PRO SP2) and every time we print from any program or even a test page, the computer will reboot.

    I have completely uninstalled the printer and associated software and downloaded a new copy of the driver and reinstalled the printer (twice) to no avail.

    All Windows updates are in place except for SP3.

      Try this out, maybe it will work maybe not;
      Right click on “My Computer”
      Click “Manage”
      In the management console expand the “Services and Applications” tree, then click “Services”
      Scroll down your list of services until you find “Print Spooler”
      Double click that service to open its properties menu.
      Under the “General” tab make sure that startup is set to automatic.
      Under the recovery tab make sure the first and second failures are set to “restart service” and NOT “Restart Computer”.
      See if that helps out at all.
