I have a PIII 750 computer with two bootable hard drives- 8.4Gig with Windows 98 and 30Gig with Windows Me. This is the second time in six months that my drive with Windows Me has suddenly lost the ability to access the internet. Running winipcfg shows an IP address being assigned to my computer. The network setup has not been change and is the same as the setup on the Win98 drive (which works fine). This has also happen to two Win98 computers at work which had to be reformatted and re-installed to get working again. I have tried re-installing Windows Me overtop of it-self with no change. I have tried renaming the Windows directory and doing a new install with no change. Does anyone have a solution that does not envolve reformattingand starting from scratch as I did in January?
