it would depend on what company is hiring, what kinds of machines are to be serviced, job role, etc..
I would expect that it would be for knowledge of an OS to be supported, and standard application support (along with best effort for nonstandard).

Depending on the technological platform, there is usually a set of job requirements that can be used as a springboard. Some companies have proprietary databases requiring a set of skills that are "easier" to identify (since it was developed "in-house") but more difficult to meet since only former employees will be familiar with the code or platform. If it's a house with Windows apps only with, let's say, a flat file database from a SUN or someone like that, there are often certifications from the software vendor you can require. If internal education is strong you can do the specific application/hardware learning in a mentoring arrangement, then you can bypass the certifications and you can look at resumes to see what experience is most appropriate for an analogous position. People skills important? Diagnostic skills using specific tools most important? Sales background to sell your support services more important? Just keep asking questions from who has the "need" and determine whats's best in your specific situation.

Support specialist of computers??? We require a
bigger area than just the computer, we support
the printers, scanners, cameras, plotters,
bit pads, I could go on, but it means everything
connected to it besides just the desktop unit.
To me, that means any level computer, from a
simple lighting controller, to an elaborate
key finder systems and production line systems.

Moderate to extensive knowledge of the operating systems being used along with the business suites such as Office etc. People skills is a must. Patience is also a must. Ability to systematically troublshoot problems.

This is a list just to start from.
