config Win2kAS for remote home LAN use?

by dirtycar74 . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

OK recently I posted a question about peer to peer networking. I was unable at all to get 98 to talk to my LAN – it came down to bad hardware somewhere… i think it was the mother board – connected a new case/motherboard and all fine. Now I installed a server and want to know how to configure it to where (I know this can be done, just havent figured it out yet) I can use the desktop on my main machine I use at home from anywhere on the internet. I do NOT have a real domain (yet) so I am currently working with ‘workgroup’. Must I have a domain or domain controller for this to work? I want to basically have this neew computer/server for remotely accessing my home LAN from other locations. I have not configured ANYTHING this time because failed previous attempts have caused data loss. now I am here asking for help. the quality of answers will determine the amount of points this is worth.
