Configuration Management culture

By Denis A. Bilas ·
Hello all,

I'm trying to improve CM (Configuration Management) processes at our company. I envision this to involve several *changes*. And I'm having troubles setting those things that *change* the way people got used to work. A rather usual situation.

What I would like to ask of you is to redirect me to some resources, containing information that is:

1. Relevant to good (e.g. RUP-style) CM approaches

2. Is CONSISE enough and EASY enough to be read by an average developer or manager. It should help me to convince people to adopt best CM practices.

3. Has some authorities (the more, the better, and the bigger, the better) signed on it

4. Enumerates "best CM practices"

5. Prooves the importance of Private Workspace methodology

6. Explains integration & other similar stuff

Thanks!

Have you seen the Web site, "Configuration Management Yellow Pages"?

It has several sections with related news and information including:

CM Today News

Public Domain or Free CM/Bug Tracking Systems
Papers Consulting and Education

Jobs/Salaries SCM Hosting

General Web Pages System Reviews

Commercial SCM/CM/PDM Systems Research

Commercial Issue Tracking / Workflow Calendar

Conferences, Workshops, Meetings, etc

Seminars

There are additional links as well.http://www.cmtoday.com/yp/configuration_management.html

(REMOVE SPACES from the pasted URL)

In addition, The Institute of Configuration Management has a Web site with articles and opinions on a variety of related issues:

Thanks, already been there, but I was looking for something different. And I found it recently in MSDN, article describing team development for .NET. It had all I needed!

Thanks for answering
