configuration of LDAP

By rob.grant ·
We are running outlook 2000 clients on a Send Mail server. We use LDAP to look up mail addresses. Outlook is set up as "Internet Only". Is there any way under this set up to make sure that outlook will search through all internal mail addresses (ie.those on the LDAP server) before it resorts to looking through contacts. You cannot set the order with an "Internet only" configuration. Is there a registry setting? At the moment, if you search for 'paul' and it finds one in Contacts, it will just give you that one and not bother looking at the LDAP server.

configuration of LDAP

Yes you can configure your outlook address book in order to search contacts at a remote internet site, but that site, must give you read permissions over the directory.
The easy example case will be a company with two branches and connected using internet. In order to have a unique address book for both branches, you can:
Set up two mail systems and interconnect them with x400 connectors
OR
Setup two mail systems and Exchange directories using LDAP.
Another posibility is for example you have a hotmail account with your own contact list (at hotmail.com) and want to share it's contents with the company address book.
At hotmail.com you can find a guided tour on how to share the book and how to reach it from the internet.

the problem is that it looks in 'contacts' first and does not try to find one in the remote address book
