I have install Office 2ksp1 and then seperatly sp2. When I look at 'help' and 'about' in any of the Office apps it shows 'sp1'. How do I confirm that 'sp2' is installed?

Well, you can go to the Office Product Update web site: http://office.microsoft.com/productupdates/ It will autodetect what Office service packs/hotfixes you have installed. Go there, run the detection, then click on the Show Installed Updates button to see everything you have installed. SP2 should be listed as installed, since you have it installed.
