    Confused by Samsung Laptops

    by jl4462951 ·

I’m confused by the variety of Samsung laptops available and hoping to get some recommendations for my son who needs one for his college assignments. Specifically, I’m looking for a powerful laptop with a long battery life that can keep up with him throughout the day. Additionally, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the samsung care+ warranty service – is it worth the investment?

I wonder if you need a “powerful” laptop for college assignments. Can you be more specific?
      Why limit yourself to Samsung?
Does the college give any recommendation or specification, or maybe the option to buy a laptop?

The Samsung care+ service is only for their Galaxy phones, not for laptops. The laptops only have a standard 2 year warranty, but that doesn’t cover loss or damage if you drop it.

I must agree with my collegue that the OP hasn’t provided enough information to make any suggestions on a laptop. While I like Samsung products, I am not convinced that they make the best laptop for every consumer. We need to know what budget the OP has, what specific system specs (RAM, graphics, storage, processor, display screen size, etc.) are required. There is nothing “cryptic” about Samsung laptops than any other manufacturer’s laptop.

I’m open to other brands, but I’m considering Samsung specifically for its established reputation and brand awareness

Thanks for clarifying a little more, but what does your son want to do with the laptop? Strictly schoolwork? Gaming? Watching video? Internet browsing? I can tell you that HP has an excellent product line of desktops and laptops.

Personally, I use a Samsung S23 Ultra cellular phone, Samsung S7+ Tablet, Samsung S3 watch and a Samsung 32 inch monitor on my HP Omen desktop system. Again, it really depends on the budget you are considering for his school laptop and system requirements. I do give Samsung a double thumbs up when it comes to their cellular/computer products (not their home appliances though).

Thanks for your input. I’ve owned multiple laptops for my own (mostly because of shifting jobs) but since I personally liked the Samsung experience, I am a little biased. Anyway, as far as actual college work is concerned – it will mostly be working on MS Office documents and heavy internet browsing for research. He’s got into a business program at school and has aims to do an MBA later, so I was thinking a sturdy laptop with great specs can perhaps hold him till the next 5-6 years. Since he’s not into gaming nor any intense coding of any kind.

You don’t need great specs for that. Any basic laptop with Windows 11 and 8 GB of RAM will do.

Navigating the array of Samsung laptops can indeed be overwhelming, especially when selecting one for your son’s college needs. For a powerful device with long battery life, consider Samsung’s Galaxy Book series, particularly the Galaxy Book Flex. It boasts a powerful processor, ample RAM, and a battery that lasts through the day, perfect for handling college assignments without needing frequent recharges.

As for Samsung Care+, it can be a valuable investment, providing extended warranty coverage and additional support for your son’s laptop. With college life often involving frequent movement and potential accidents, having extra protection can offer peace of mind. Plus, Samsung Care+ typically includes benefits like expedited repairs and 24/7 support, ensuring your son’s laptop stays in top condition throughout his college journey.
