Connect to existing IE using VB

By dhiggs ·
I am using Visual Basic 6 and I would like to know how to connect to a currently running instance of the Internet Explorer? I tried the ShellWindows but it doesn't work on some boxes. I need a solution that will work on most windows boxes.

Thanks in advance!
Derek

Dear Derek,
I am not sure what you are looking for. In Vb you can use the IE Active X to connect to any WEB page. I have made an application by which the user csn use the IE in a controlled enviroment, that the user can only browse selected sites only. Why do you want to connect to a an instance of the Internet Explorer where you can start the IE and directly go to a specific site? If this is not what you are looking for please comment on what you are looking for.

I am not sure how to attach to the currently running instance of IE. For some reason, the GetObject funtion does not work.

To start a new instance;

Set ieApp = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")

Normally, the GetObject function works the same way.

Set ieApp = GetObject(,"InternetExplorer.Application")

I will peck around some more since this did not answer your question.
