Connecting 95 machines running on NOVELL

By eric.j.jones ·
I have never had to connect a Windows 95 machine running on a NOVELL network to a NT server. What is the easiest way to do this? I've read about it but never actually did it. The machines need to access shares and possible a printer.

Thanks
ERic

To Eric,
Follow this:
First, in the NT server, (You may need a PDC for this), go to Server Manager then highlight the PDC or the Server then in the panel go to computer then click add to domain the enter the name of the Win95 machine your talking about.
Then in the User Manager of Domains, you need to add the person/s account to be added to the NT Network. Then you may need to configure this users access rights.

On the Win95 machines, go to control panels Network or right click on the Network Neighborhood and the Properties. In the Configuration tab, click ADD, in the pop up window click CLIENT, wait for windows to build the database then click MICROSOFT, at the right pane, click CLIENT FOR MICROSOFT NETWORKS the press OK.
Now (do not reboot yet), inthe Identification Tab, you need to specify if the windows 95 machine or node is a part of a workgroup then put the computername and description. In the access control Tab, User level access control then enter the name of the NT Server (If it is a prima

Unless I misunderstood your explaination, Your wanting to give pc which already access a Novell network a means of Accessing a NT Server.
The first would be to touch each w/s and install the microsoft networking client (they can coexist, the catch is keeping the novell client as the first one to load) and enable Microsofts file & print sharing (Not Novells, unless you only want to see the novell stuff).

A Second option, which depends on whether you have some form of NDS on the Novell side. if you do have NDS there, then you can use one of Novell's products to extend the NDS into the NT environment. It used to be called "NDS for NT", but I believe it's now rolled into their NDS eDirectory product. This will allow you do the administration for both environments from one place, rather than two separate ones.

Install Client for MS Networking on the Win95 machine. Under Client for MS Networking's properties, check the box and specify the NT domain if you plan to logon to a domain controller. Otherwise, have same username and p/w on both network.
