Connecting to Router

By usaoasis ·
A new Netgear RangeMax Next DGD834n router has been installed in
our house and works well with two PCs and an iPhone, using WPA +
WPA encryption, in wireless mode.

However, my PowerBook Titanium 15.2" laptop cannot complete a
connection. Okay of course with ethernet cable. But in wireless mode
it can "see" the router, but will not connect. Range is okay, password
is correct, and other settings seem right.

It will connect if encryption and password removed from router. The
router crashes if set to WEP encryption. Which our previous non-
Netgear router used.

I wonder if the PowerBook's internal airport cannot handle WPA

Netgear support doesn't seem to be able to help.

Can anyone suggest what the problem might be and how to overcome
it. Would appreciate your assistance. Thanks
