Using XP Pro and service pack 3 (ugh). I am having problem conecting to internet using either IE or Firefox. Keep receiving 404 error message. Outlook works OK.
Run diagnosis on modem all is OK, CMD prompt and ping IP OK. To get on internet I need to turn modem off and wait a few minutes and turn on. All works for a few times and then problem reappears. I have reinstalled software from IBM as I am running a Netvista desktop. Problem still persists.
I’m using a modem provided by ISP (earthlink). Am wondering if I could use a modem from another ISP, if I can enter diagnostic stage and change parameters. I have a brightstar (?) modem from Covad.
