Considering career in Biotech/Bioinformatics

By safikay ·
I have a BSc. in CS, and I have spent 5 years in the industry. But I am already disillusioned. I am considering entering into biotech/bioinformatics. Since I have always had a passion for the medical field but never had the financial opportunity to pursue it, I am figuring biotech will allow me to use my IT skills for something fulfilling.
Unfortunately I don't know the exact path to take in order to make this change as painless as possible.

Please advise!!!!!

All I can say is, "Go for it."

My opinion of the future of the American IT sector has appeared on many threads here. I have counseled parents not to send their children to college, but instead to spend half the money sending them on a long trip around the world to learn things they'd never learn in school, and to spend the other half setting them up in the plumbing business, a vocation that we can safely predict will be neither automated nor offshore outsourced during this century.

If you have the alternative of going into biotechnology, the kind of cutting-edge field that America has always excelled at, do it.

I can't tell you anything about the path except that it is almost certainly a good one. You will work out the details and you will be glad you did.

Good luck.
